MOLD KOTE is a nano technology based semi-permanent mould release coating which is extremely thin, hard, transparent and abrasion resistant. It creates a semi-permanent barrier on the mould surface which facilitates extraordinary release of rubber or plastic components.
The applied coating is extremely thin, around 200 to 300 nanometres in thickness and so does not affect the dimensional tolerances of the product.
MOLD KOTE reduces the coefficient of friction, thereby improving the flow of material in the mould and helps in mould filling, reducing streaks.
MOLD KOTE reduces scrap, improves production rate and surface finish of the moulded component.
MOLD KOTE is easy to apply and can be applied by the user himself and does not need any expensive equipment for application. This eliminates the need for the mould to be sent outside for processes like PTFE coating or other release treatments thereby reducing costs and downtime.
MOLD KOTE is extremely durable and one application lasts for a very long time, eliminating the need for traditional mould release agents like silicone sprays which needs to be applied frequently.
MOLD KOTE does not transmigrate into the product like traditional release sprays or waxes and so many secondary cleaning processes can be eliminated. Any further processes like adhesive application or printing can be done on the product without the need for cleaning.
MOLD KOTE – APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
The mould surface to be coated needs to be thoroughly cleaned of all oils, waxes, dirt and other previously used release agents like silicone spray before application of MOLD KOTE.Solvent cleaning methods using various petroleum solvents, thinners can be used. A cloth dipped in solvent is rubbed against the surface to loosen all deposits. This is continued till a white cloth dipped in solvent and rubbed on mould surface remains white, indicating the mould is clean.
MOLD KOTE can be applied to clean, dry moulds and not to hot moulds.MOLD KOTE solution is applied to a clean, white cotton cloth or microfiber cloth and a light, even coat is applied on the surface. Any excess material is immediately wiped off the surface. Do small areas at a time and continue in this fashion till the whole surface is covered.
After coating take care not to touch or wipe the surface for at least one hour or till it dries to touch.The coated mould is then put inside an oven and heated to around 150C, for 30 minutes to cure the coating. You can use a hot air gun and pass it over the coated surface to cure it. In conditions where heating is not feasible, the coated mould should be left to cure for 12 to 15 hours before use. Full cure under room temperature conditions will take 2 weeks time. The cured mould can be put to use immediately.
